IST — India Standard Time
India uses a single time zone, IST (Indian Standard Time), which is UTC+5:30. India does not observe Daylight Saving Time (DST). The 30-minute offset (rather than whole-hour) places IST between two full-hour time zones and covers the geographic centre of India.
Daylight Saving Time (DST)
Many countries (USA, UK, most of Europe, Australia) observe DST, moving clocks forward by 1 hour in summer. This means the time difference between India and these countries changes twice a year:
- IST to EST: +10:30 hours (winter) or +9:30 hours (summer DST)
- IST to GMT: +5:30 hours (winter) or +4:30 hours (summer DST)
💡 Our converter uses your browser's built-in timezone database which automatically accounts for DST changes.
