📐 Metric Formula

The BMI Formula

Metric (kg & cm) BMI = Weight (kg)
÷ Height² (m²)

Example:
70 kg ÷ (1.70)² = 24.2
Imperial (lb & inches) BMI = [Weight (lbs) ÷ Height² (in²)] × 703

Example:
154 lbs ÷ (67)² × 703 = 24.1

Step-by-Step Calculation

Given: Height 170cm · Weight 70kg
Step 1: Convert height to metres
→ 170 cm ÷ 100 = 1.70 m
Step 2: Square the height
→ 1.70 × 1.70 = 2.89
Step 3: Divide weight by result
→ 70 ÷ 2.89
